With discussions swirling around character design, historical accuracy, and the game&#8217;s setting, the team wanted to set the record straight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First off, the team expressed their deep appreciation for the support Assassin&#8217;s Creed has received over the years. Many on the team have long dreamed of creating a game set in feudal Japan, and since the reveal of Shadows, they&#8217;ve been thrilled with the positive feedback. Instead, it&#8217;s a work of fiction designed to spark curiosity and encourage players to explore the real history that inspired them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At its core, Shadows is an entertainment-driven video game, telling an engaging, fictional historical tale set in feudal Japan. To achieve this, the team collaborated extensively with external consultants from Ubisoft Japan, historians, researchers, and internal teams to inform their creative choices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite these ongoing efforts, the team acknowledged that some of the promotional materials released earlier have caused concern within the Japanese community. They sincerely apologize for this and emphasize that all game content shown so far is still in development and will continue to evolve until the game&#8217;s launch. The team is committed to taking on board constructive criticism and refining the game right up until the moment it\u2019s delivered to players\u2014and even beyond that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The team also clarified that while they have consulted many experts during development, these individuals are not responsible for the creative decisions made in the interest of gameplay and entertainment. Yasuke\u2019s unique and mysterious background makes him an ideal character for telling the Assassin&#8217;s Creed story in the context of feudal Japan.
