However, physical cards rapidly became a prime vehicle for telephone scammers, impersonators, and fraudulent money-laundering schemes preying on unsuspecting victims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over the years, Valve implemented various countermeasures, including localized currency locks to prevent international cross-border laundering, mandatory warning notices on physical packaging, and immediate regional sales freezes when spikes in suspicious activity were identified. Despite these efforts, bad actors consistently evolved their tactics around these safeguards.
