PlayStation fans, get ready for a massive blast of late-90s nostalgia. Bandai has announced a brand new Gashapon capsule toy collection hitting Japanese vending machines in late January 2026: the PocketStation Doko Demo Issho Mini Charms. Each spin will cost 400 yen (approx. US $2.75 \/ UK \u00a32.15).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For those who need a quick gaming history refresher, the PocketStation was Sony’s answer to the Tamagotchi craze, originally released in Japan back in January 1999. Pluggable directly into a PlayStation 1 memory card slot, the miniature handheld allowed gamers to download mini-games from supported PS1 titles and take them on the go. One of the premier titles designed specifically for the peripheral was Doko Demo Issho, which introduced the world to Sony’s legendary mascot, Toro Inoue (the Sony Cat).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This new mini-charm series recreates the PocketStation at a 1:1 scale, complete with its iconic flip-cover mechanism and pixel-art screen artwork inspired by Doko Demo Issho. Bandai is offering 9 different variants in total\u20145 featuring the classic white housing and 4 featuring the iconic transparent housing\u2014each displaying unique pixel art of Toro and his animal friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
